Here’s an interesting experiment 💡
SEO expert, Steve Toth, shared this hot tip around how to earn the featured snippet for “vs” keywords.
Another SEO consultant, Kapil Ochani, noticed that many featured snippets for comparison keywords (e.g. you vs competitor) started with the words “The main difference between…”
So, using that insight, he optimized his comparison pages.
Here’s the strategy in a nutshell:
- Find (or create) pages on your site that have “vs” in the title tag
- Under the H1 on your page, start with the text “The main difference between...”
- Make sure your explanation is clear and concise. No fluff.
Apparently a lot of people have tried this simple hack and it actually works.
If anything, I like how this exercise gets you to think about explaining your positioning in a clear, concise way. Think “is this clear enough that Google would want to show it as a featured snippet?
