Thinking of expanding into new geographic markets?
Here’s some inspiration from Basecamp. They recently announced geo-specific pricing in India.
Their CEO posted this on LinkedIn:
“Why India?
Over the last few years, and especially in the last few months, interest in Basecamp from Indian entrepreneurs has really taken off.
My email has been filling with “we love Basecamp but we’re small and just can’t afford it over here” emails. We get it. We’ve been thinking about local pricing in different markets for years, but all these emails from Indian entrepreneurs really pushed us into making it a reality.
So here we are. If you’re a small business — even just one person (…) We’re here for you, and Basecamp’s all you need, all in one place, at one special price.”
On their landing page they include special pricing, shown in Rupees. They also focus on the specific capabilities and benefits that the Indian market cares about.
This is one of the clearest examples of a geo-specific go to market that I’ve seen.
